Baker Barrios Architects, Inc. and RDG Bussard Dikis formed a joint venture to design UCF's Recreational Services Building, Phase I. Design of the building created a signature structure that defines its purpose as a “social hub” of the campus through the creative use of glass, building materials, and flexible interior spaces. The 83,000 SF facility supports an array of functions, including basketball, volleyball, aerobics, spinning, kickboxing, track, indoor roller hockey, rock climbing, and weightlifting. A 50-foot-high masonry and glass cylinder encasing a 40-foot freestanding climbing wall at the entrance invites participation and activity with its signature design feature.
